OpenAIRE is a non-profit organisation with a mission to promote open scholarship and improve discoverability, accessibility, shareability, reusability, reproducibility, and monitoring of data-driven research results, globally. The organization operates a European e-infrastructure offering a diverse set of public services to accelerate the adoption of Open Science and is supported by a network of experts placed in key national organizations across European countries, the National Open Access Desks (NOADs). The users of OpenAIRE services include researchers, research communities, policy makers, research-intensive organizations, SMEs, universities, libraries, and citizen scientists. OpenAIRE is also a key implementer of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
Back in December 2023, Jisc and OpenAIRE ran a webinar covering the OpenAIRE services: “Spotlight on Services: How Can OpenAIRE Facilitate Your Work in the UK”. Jisc is the NOAD for the UK, where we support their services for our members. The webinar covered the following:
- OpenAIRE Explore, which works to link research products; OpenAIRE Provide, which helps make libaries’ and repositories’ content more discoverable
- OpenAIRE Monitor which assesses the uptake of Open Science policy at the institutional level
- OpenAIRE ARGOS, which allows for the creation of machine actionable Data Management Plans and then links to EOSC components
- The OpenAIRE Graph, which brings together and interlinks hundreds of millions of metadata records from over 100k data sources trusted by researchers.
There were six speakers altogether, so quite a lot of ground was covered. A recording of the webinar is now available, along with a transcript: Spotlight on Services. We encourage you to get in touch with questions or for more information to see if the OpenAIRE services can help you with your work: Contact Us – you can also sign up for the OpenAIRE Newsletter with that link.
