The National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America is now supplying articles from its flagship journal, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), to Jisc’s Publications Router service for onward distribution to UK institutional repositories.
Full-text articles reach repositories faster
In 2021, for an initial interim period, PNAS is depositing, upon issue publication, articles made open access under the read and publish agreement. Then, from early 2022, coverage will be expanded to include all OA articles. These will then be delivered even sooner, upon first publication of each article in its version of record. Almost all matched articles will reach the relevant repositories within 40 days of acceptance for publication.
Details of correct open licence included
The articles are openly licensed under a Creative Commons licence. Unless an author has opted out, this will be a Creative Commons attribution (CC BY) licence. Therefore, repository managers don’t need to investigate which licence they should use – the authoritative answer is already present in the metadata, ready to be displayed to end users, so that they too know how they can confidently re-use the content openly.
